Dogs Helping Kids – JCF 2013/2014 charity

Dog’s Helping Kids is JCF’s nominated Devon charity for 2013/2014.

DHK is North Devon’s unique charity (register number 1148913) and their mission statement is “Dogs Helping Kids ardhk.029e dedicated to using highly trained dogs to help children and teenagers non-violence, empathy, respect, kindness, love responsibility, friendship and trust” and their vision statement is “to have a dog working and helping in every school and library in the United Kingdom”.

When the choice was made for JCF to support DHK the volunteers were unaware that Jaden had been invited to become their Patron so it’s rather nice to be raising funds for two good reasons!!

It takes approximately 3,000 over a 18-24 month period to fully train a DHK dog and the cost includes smaller items such as a collar, harness, lead and coat then going up to the more expensivdhk.073e items such as educational training material and insurance.

DHK offers the following services: DHK School Dogs; Classroom Canines; Listening Canines; Reward Canines; Therapy Canines; Educational Talks for Schools, Colleges and Youth Groups; Educational Courses for Teenagers on Dog Trainingand Behaviour; Puppyand Doggy Preparation for Childrenand Bringing Up Baby; Workshops for Teachers and Educational Staff – Preparation for and Learning About School Dogs
