alexander devine hospice

JCF supporting Alexander Divine CHS & Children In Distress

Further tothe Augustmeeting of JCF London, the volunteers agreed they would raise funds for the year 2013/14 and 2014/15to help Alexander Divine Children’s Hospice Serviceand Children in Distress. Fundraising will continue until the end of April 2014 with financial distributions being made in May 2015.

Jaden says “having to deal with the “there’s not much more we can do” must be unbearable, but when it is your child I cannot think of thalexander devine hospicee devastation this must cause. My heart really goes to those all over the world that face this every day. I have recently become involved with ADCHS who supply end of life care for lots of families in my local area. There is a shortage of end of life nurses and carers and with the nearest children’s hospice being 60 miles away I would like to support ADCHS with their desire to build a state of the art children’s hospice in Berkshire.”

London JCF’s second charity is Children in Distress in Romania. Jaden has had a close connection with CID since being introduced to them by children in distressclassical crossover singer Jennifer Crestol. Since meeting Jennifer, JCF has despatched toys, children’s clothing and medical supplies. Jaden has also taken part in a few charity fundraising musical events when visiting Bucharest. While visiting Romania he also made a point of spending time with the CID children in care. His last visit was just before Christmas 2012 – you can see the short video he made by clicking HERE

Tarka Trail Sponsored Hike 21 July 2013

Sunday 21st July 2013 saw the third annual North Devon Tarka Trail sponsored hike. Numbers taking part are growing each year and this year was no exception with 9 participants plus Dominic the GSD. The route taken was from the Buffing Billy, Torrington to the Braunton Visitors Centre, as distance of just over 20 miles.

Most of the walkers were raising funds for Dogs Helping Kids but the walk was open for people to raise funds for the charity of their choice so Blind Dog Rescue UK and South West German Shepherd Dog Rescue (Bideford) will also be benefitting.

It’s anticipated that in excess of 500 will be raised for DHK.

Another sponsored hike is planned for July 2014. This will be added to our events page in due course.

Jaden Cornelious Fundraising welcomes 5 new volunteers to the team.

From the West London area JCF is pleased to have on board Torron-Lee Dewar, Julia Romp, Dorota Pasko and Helen Gill.

torron torch2Torron’s interests include helping people, fitness, travel, dance and the arts. He is also a motivational speaker and runs the award winning Alliance Dance Unit. Torron was especially honoured to be a torch bearer at the 2012 London Olympics.

julia rompJulia likes working with animals and loves being part of fundraising events. She tells us she likes dressing up as Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse or Peppa Pig so is already working with animals and has the best of both worlds! Keep checking back on our News page and Events page to see when Donald Duck is going to make his (or her!) next appearance for JCF.

helen gillHelen works with children with special needs and her interests include going to see West End musicals and photography. She says she is quite organised and has a great sense of humour – look out Jaden – someone’s going to keep you on your toes!!

dorota paskoDorota (aka Dottie) also works with children with special needs and is very keen to help fundraise with JCF. Infact Dottie has a head start on the other new members as she helped the JCF team on their sponsored piercing and head-shave day in August 2012 when money was raised for breast cancer charities.

From the Wigan area of the North of England we’re pleased to have on board Georgina Green.

georgina greenGeorgina’s interests include fundraising, cooking and camping. JCF would love to hear from you if you would like to know more about being a volunteer so please email cathy@jcfundriasing.com if you are interested.

Dogs Helping Kids – JCF 2013/2014 charity

Dog’s Helping Kids is JCF’s nominated Devon charity for 2013/2014.

DHK is North Devon’s unique charity (register number 1148913) and their mission statement is “Dogs Helping Kids ardhk.029e dedicated to using highly trained dogs to help children and teenagers non-violence, empathy, respect, kindness, love responsibility, friendship and trust” and their vision statement is “to have a dog working and helping in every school and library in the United Kingdom”.

When the choice was made for JCF to support DHK the volunteers were unaware that Jaden had been invited to become their Patron so it’s rather nice to be raising funds for two good reasons!!

It takes approximately 3,000 over a 18-24 month period to fully train a DHK dog and the cost includes smaller items such as a collar, harness, lead and coat then going up to the more expensivdhk.073e items such as educational training material and insurance.

DHK offers the following services: DHK School Dogs; Classroom Canines; Listening Canines; Reward Canines; Therapy Canines; Educational Talks for Schools, Colleges and Youth Groups; Educational Courses for Teenagers on Dog Trainingand Behaviour; Puppyand Doggy Preparation for Childrenand Bringing Up Baby; Workshops for Teachers and Educational Staff – Preparation for and Learning About School Dogs

To see more information about Dogs Helping Kids please go to their website www.dogshelpingkids.co.uk

If you would like to donate to DHK click on the Donate button below (orgo toOur Causes page) and keep checking our News and Events pages from time to time to see how you can take part in any of our fundraising events.
